New Silverware

Every year the members of Great Shelford Tennis Club battle it out to be crowned club champion, with singles and doubles titles on offer. Competition is fierce and fun and the whole club comes together for a social event on Finals Day in September to watch the top players in the club compete for their titles. This year will be extra special, as we have new silverware to hand out to our winners.
The new trophies have been gifted to the club by local businesses and by members of the club, known as the “Super Seniors”. All these members have been at the club for a long time and have played their part in running the club. The committee is very grateful for their ongoing support and would like to thank:
- Redmayne, Arnold & Harris – Men’s Singles Trophy
- Penny Saich (current President) – Ladies’ Singles Trophy
- Sylvia Morton – Ladies’ Doubles Trophy
- Colin Tait – Men’s Doubles Trophy
- Susan Fox – Mixed Doubles Trophy
- Mark Sanders – Mixed Handicap Doubles Trophy
- The Scripps Family in memory of Gordon Scripps – Mixed Veterans Doubles Trophy
- Neil Harvey – Boys and Girls Singles Trophies
The junior cups were purchased from the Neil Harvey Fund. The fund was set up with the specific aim of developing junior tennis in Great Shelford and the surrounding area. It is also being used to fund coaching in local schools at lunch time, to give children who may otherwise not have the opportunity to play.
